Genode and Sculpt OS exhibited at FrOSCon on August 16-17 Jul 10, 2025Meet Genode's developers and see Sculpt OS in action at the FrOSCon conference in Sankt Augustin. The FrOSCon Free and Open Source Software Conference held mid August in Sankt Augustin is a fantastic gathering of projects and enthusiasts united by their dedication for Free Software. FrOScon Free and Open-Source Software Conference August 16 and 17 in Sankt Augustin After having hosted a Genode booth for the first time in 2024, which was simply delightful, we had to join again! This time, our project will be represented by our team members Sebastian Sumpf and Josef Soentgen who will showcase Genode in various flavours and forms. If you are attending FrOSCon, make sure to drop by. Meet us at the seL4 summit during September 2-5 Jul 09, 2025With delight, we will present the combination of Sculpt OS with the seL4 kernel at the seL4 summit in Prague. The seL4 microkernel project pursues the application for formal methods to the operating-systems domain. Even though we enabled the basic combination of Genode with the seL4 kernel as early as 2015, this line of work remained largely experimental and limited to the scope of rather static systems. Earlier this year, however, Genode core developer Alexander Boettcher aspired to bring the fully featured and highly dynamic Sculpt OS over to this kernel. The outcome of this undertaking will be presented at the seL4 summit. seL4 Summit September 3 to 5 in Prague https://sel4.systems/Summit/2025/ For those interested in leveraging seL4 and Genode together, don't miss the opportunity to catch up in person by joining the summit! Genode OS release 25.02 Mar 31, 2025Genode 25.02 brings multi-monitor support to the window-management level and to virtual machines, runs up-to-date versions of Qemu and the Chromium engine, and extends platform support to Intel Meteor Lake and F&S armStone. With Genode version 25.02 released in February, we nicely wrapped up our intense line of work on top-notch multi-monitor support, covering the window-management level, and going as far as exposing the new comforts to virtual machines. Under the hood, the topic served as driving motivation for SIMD performance optimizations that found their way into the new release as well. In the release documentation, you can find a short video showcasing the result: Release documentation of version 25.02 Further highlights of the new version are performance optimizations of our custom microkernel, Qemu running directly on Genode, and added support for Intel Meteor Lake as well as F&S MX8MP armStone platforms. You can find these and many more improvements covered in detail by visiting the link above. Visit our booth at the Embedded World exhibition Jan 24, 2025For the first time in our company's history, Genode Labs will host a booth at the Embedded World exhibition in March 2025. We are more than excited to present the Genode OS Framework and Sculpt OS in its diverse flavors and forms at one of the most reputable exhibitions in the domains of embedded systems, system software, tooling, and hardware components. You will find us in Hall 4 at Booth Number 4-442.
