Find Genode on hackster.io ----------------------------- In addition to our developer stories at https://genodians.org, we started publishing specific tutorials at https://hackster.io for a wider audience. Hackster.io is a community platform for hardware and software developers to share their personal and professional projects. With over two million members and 30k open source projects one can find comprehensive instructions and impressive projects for a plethora of hardware/software platforms. In November, we launched a distinct Genode channel and started publishing beginner-level tutorials for the Zybo Z7 board. Please feel welcome to share your own projects! https://www.hackster.io/genode/ 2. Looking forward to FOSDEM 2023 --------------------------------- After two years of holding the FOSDEM conference in a virtual format, it is time for a physical gathering again! https://fosdem.org/2023/ February 4 and 5, 2023 in Brussels FOSDEM is the world's largest event for Free-Software and Open-Source projects. Among the vast variety of conference tracks and developer rooms, there will be again a developer room specifically for micro- kernel and component-based operating systems. Note that the call for participation is open until December 2. Thanks to Razvan Deaconescu and Simon Kuenzer for shepherding the devroom this time! https://lists.fosdem.org/pipermail/fosdem/2022q4/003458.html It goes without saying that our team will actively participate in FOSDEM. If you like to get in touch or catch up, please consider attending. 3. New Sculpt OS version 22.10 ------------------------------ Mid of October, we published Sculpt OS 22.10, which incorporates our year-long effort with applying Genode's rigid mandatory access control regime to all device drivers, making the complete system more dependable and clear. The new version also includes numerous performance improvements, in particular regarding network throughput and user-interface responsiveness. We also put much emphasis on stressing Sculpt's USB hotplug support, which includes the dynamic assignment and revocation of USB devices to and from virtual machines. A ready-to-use system image along with updated documentation are available for download here: https://genode.org/download/sculpt https://genode.org/documentation/articles/sculpt-22-10 4. Genode OS Framework 22.11 released ------------------------------------- Today, we published the version 22.11 of the Genode OS framework, which features the revamped device-driver infrastructure that already powers Sculpt OS 22.10 as mentioned above. Other highlights of the new release are the use of the framework for hardware-software co-design work, hardware-accelerated graphics on GEN12+ Intel GPUs, new drivers for the PinePhone and i.MX, suspend/resume on PCs, and improved virtualization features on both ARM and PC.
