Embedded World exhibition in March 2025 ------------------------------------------ For the first time in our company's history, Genode Labs will host a booth at the Embedded World exhibition in spring 2025. Embedded World Exhibition & Conference https://www.embedded-world.de March 11-13 2025, in Nuremberg, Germany We are more than excited to present the Genode OS Framework and Sculpt OS in its diverse flavors and forms at one of the most reputable exhibitions in the domains of embedded systems, system software, tooling, and hardware components. Please mark the date! Our exact coordinates will be posted in the next newsletter. 2. Visit our joint stand with QubesOS at FOSDEM 2025 ---------------------------------------------------- Since the advent of the microkernel developer room 12 years ago, FOSDEM in Brussels has been our go-to venue for celebrating the advances of the microkernel community and for sharing our work on Genode. Next FOSDEM will be special. Genode will not only participate in the microkernel developer room shepherded by Udo Steinberg this time, but we will also exhibit Genode at a stand together with the QubesOS project! This is no coincidence. Both projects are wholeheartedly dedicated to the approach of security through compartmentalization. To learn what this approach is all about, to see both systems in action, and to get acquainted with the people behind the projects, you are warmly invited to meet us at FOSDEM 2025. FOSDEM conference for Free and Open-Source Software https://fosdem.org/2025/archives/ February 1-2 2025, in Brussels, Belgium Drop by at our stand and don't miss the microkernel developer room! 3. Sculpt OS 24.10 for PCs, MNT Pocket/Reform, and PinePhone ------------------------------------------------------------ We are keeping up with the bi-annual release cycle of our Genode- based Sculpt operating system. End of October, we proudly announced the release of version 24.10, which puts the spotlight at multi- monitor support: https://genode.org/news/sculpt-os-release-24.10 Just this week, we followed up with the first version of Sculpt OS for the Open-Hardware MNT Pocket-Reform laptop: https://genodians.org/jws/2024-11-25-sculpt_mnt_pocket 4. Genode OS release 24.11 -------------------------- Being the underpinning of Sculpt OS, it is no big surprise that multi-monitor support is one of the highlights of Genode 24.11, released end of last week. In fact, the use of multiple displays is just one facet of the far-reaching overhaul of the framework's GUI stack. https://genode.org/news/genode-os-framework-release-24.11 The second highlight is the first edition of a new book about application development for Genode and Sculpt OS in particular. The book "Applications" is now available as a free download at: https://genode.org Hardware-wise, the release updates all Linux-based drivers for the i.MX family to version 6.6, ultimately enabling Sculpt OS on the MNT Pocket Reform laptop.
